Compatability

11-12-2012

As of right now, edna2 has been tested in the following browsers and is fully compatible:

  • Chrome - All Modern Versions fully compatible
  • Firefox - All Modern Versions fully compatible
  • IE - Incompatible
  • Opera - Not tested
  • Other - Not tested

Chrome and Firefox

As you can see, at the moment, edna2 is only fully tested with Chrome and Firefox. By all major versions, I generally mean anything that's recent within the past year or so. I the earliest version of Chrome that I've tested personally is Chrome 19 which worked fine. Firefox should work well for the most recent versions. Most of this compatability rests on audiojs working in the browser version of your choice, so check audiojs to see if your browser is compatible with that. Essentially, any recent version of Chrome and Firefox should work out well.

Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer currently has failures in these categories:

Playing music

Internet Explorer fails to play music on multiple occasions. Currently, this is most likely related to using audiojs and some possible incompatibilities on that front. While I don't really like to blame a third party plugin, that is the most reasonable assumption I can make at this point. I am currently investigating this and if it turns out audiojs is the problem I will pursue a more compatible music player in the future.

I have only tested in IE 9, so a less recent version could possibly work, but it is unlikely.

Opera

At this time I have not tested edna2 in Opera. You are more than welcome to try it if you are an Opera use, but that is essentially all I can tell you at this time.

Other browsers

Edna2 works in a certain sense on mobile browsers, but I don't particularly enjoy the experience. Currently, edna2 does not have a good mobile solution, and it's definitely something I'm going to be looking into in the future. This stage is a long way away however.
